Wauchope Main Street UPGRADE (please scroll down for updates)

Wauchope Main Street is a concept plan for High Street that aims to encourage more 'feet on the street' and to create a safer, pedestrian friendly CBD. The Wauchope Chamber has long supported improvements to the town centre and with the announcement of RMS funding and the appointment of a contractor, works have finally begun.

The roll out of the works will impact business operating in the CBD and we as a Chamber aim to share information to assist in keeping business up and running while these works are taking place.

We are here to listen to business and welcome feedback from business on how they are managing. Please send us an email at wauchopechamber@gmail.com

FAQ SHEET - 20182011.PDFFACT SHEET.PDF

Works have progressed ahead of schedule with all programmed path works to date being completed well in advance of program. This has enabled us to remove the barriers and reinstate use of the footpaths and parking lanes enabling uninterrupted access to shops and this arrangement will remain throughout December. There is still work to be done on the installation of street furniture including seating, bins and signs however the impacts from these works will be minimal ensuring uninterrupted trade through December.

Work on the water main within the northern footpath is also nearing completion with the remaining work to be completed over the remaining Sundays. This messaging is being delivered this week via social media and radio to inform the community and once again to raise awareness in the community that, while the works are still underway, it is essentially business as usual in Wauchope through December.

There is still work to be done on the installation of street furniture including seating, bins and signs and potentially some stormwater at the Oxley Lane corner that may take up some parking near the intersection, however the impacts from these works will be minimal ensuring uninterrupted trade through December.

Work on the watermain within the northern footpath is also nearing completion with the remaining work to be completed over the next few Sundays.

This messaging is being delivered via social media and shortly via radio to inform the community and once again to raise awareness in the community that, while the works are still underway, it is essentially business as usual in Wauchope through December.

Any enquiries in relation to the footpath work should be directed to Green Construction and those in relation to the watermain to PMHC.

The current Fact Sheet and a Frequently Asked Questions Sheet that has been prepared to address some of the more common questions being asked on the project is also attached.

At this stage of the project there are still concurrent activities being undertaken on both sides of High Street. Programmed works on the installation of the new water main within the northern footpath are limited to Sundays only and Council’s appointed contractor, Green Construction and Management, continues with work on the southern footpath.
